a remote employee installed DB2 (8.1 EEE) on his
workstation. I do not know what responces he used on
the install, but I beleive all the defaults.

After installing I instructed him to bring up the
Command Line Processor and enter a "CREATE DATABASE"
(to a local drive) command. He did this by "copy-n-paste"
from a text file I sent him, so I am sure the syntax is correct on the statement. However, he gets the following
error:

SQL1096N The command is not valid for this node type.

What might have he done wrong (or missed) on the install to
get this error message?? (I am able to create the database
successfully on my machine.)

Thanks,
K

K,

are you sure he has more than the db2client installed. If he only has the db2client installed, I would expect this error.

Cheers
Greg

Thanks for the tip, turns out the remote employee did only
have the client installed!
