I have a question that I hope some could help with. Our server keeps reaching it's 16gb limit. When I look at the MBX folder it's only 9gb. Could someone please tell me what other folders or files use space in the Priv1.edb or stm files.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

When emails are deleted they aren't removed from the database, they are just marked as deleted. To reclaim this space you need to do an off-line defrag of your database.

I did that using eseutil, plus the defrag is set to run nightly.

You should get your users set-up to archive their old email and be agressive with this. I don't know how many users you have, but 16gb doesn't go very far with Exchange. Once they've archived old email, do your compacting to remove them from the IS.

Our Information Store is 160gb plus!

You can get around the 16gb limit by upgrading to the enterprise version of Exchange.

Good luck.

The nightly on-line defrag doesn't recover unused space, it only moves things around to make reading for efficient. The different you are seeing my be deleted items that haven't expired yet. What is your "Keep deleted items" set to? If this is a long time, the delete items can add up really quick.

Might want to bump that to at least a few days to give you a chance to recover accidentally deleted items easier.
