I know that you had to load the thick client in order to have the files necessary to access the Symposium database "back in the day".
Does anyone know what the impact of not having a thick client will mean to accessing the database in the new 6.0 environment?

I know too that we had to create a thick client account for anyone who needed access to the data in the database. With no thick client, what ID are users to use? I'm sure as hell not going to give the sysadmin.

Create a desktop account for it. I agree, I don't link sysadmin with those types of accounts.

I don't think my question was understood. I'm NOT asking HOW do you setup someone for access to the Symposium db. I want to know if anyone knows HOW TO SETUP an external user (like a db query from SQL)in the 6.0 environment. In 5.0 and earlier versions, you had to load the thick client and you had to have a desktop account created for you.

IN 6.0 THERE IS NO THICK CLIENT.

How will we give query access only to users?

You still have the sysadmin account in the database. You would still use the sysadmin account for read-only access, the same as you would with all other releases. The database has not changed.
