Some of our clients like to be able to press a button on their phone to turn the night auto attendant on or off because their work hours are variable. We typically do that by putting a button on one phone that sets a user variable and then testing for day or night operation in VM Pro.

This works fine but it does not give the user any kind of indicator on the phone that tells them which mode is currently set. Does anyone have a way to set an indicator on one or more phones when night mode is set?

I do it with set hunt night service and users forwarded to voicemail. It works well and you can have multiple buttons that all turn on and off.

Hunt groups is the way to go, but instead of using fowared users in the voicmail call flow for the goup use the "Route by call Status" under the Telephony actions.

I've used that approach for sending calls to VM after it rang for the receptionist but I admit that I didn't think of it for a switch between two different auto attendants. Thanks for expanding my thinking!

I really like that approach! I had to look up, "Route by Call Status". I don't remember ever seeing that in VM Pro. I'll test it on my system tomorrow. Thanks to you as well.

Stars to both of you! This morning I didn't have a single way to satisfy my customer and this afternoon I have two ways :)

The route by call status is an excellent idea and easier than the user variable approach I've used. However our call centre answers calls from lots of huntgroups (so they can answer appropiately), would we have a button to set each group into night service or is there a way of putting all of the groups into night service with one button?

Thanks

Andrew

I'm not sure if it will work but you could try to make a button and for the HG numbers use HG1;HG2;HG3 (HG is your Hunt Group number)

i think if you put as blank sethuntnight button with no action data on it. that should do all the groups you are a memnber of.
