Im trying to make a date field in a form only be the month and year. I tried changing the mask and the format on the table and on the form. Whn I click in the field it shows _ _ /_ _ _ _ likt it should. I can enter the month only and the 4-character year. But when I go to another field, it goes back to mm/dd/yyyy and makes the date the 1st of that month, eg. 04/01/2002.

Where else can I change the mask.

if you change the table where the data is stored to format mm/yyyy it should work :)

You also need to set a format. I think "mm/yyyy" will work, but I didn't actually test it.

Remember - the MASK property controls the INPUT of data (must follow MASK layout) and the FORMAT property controls OUTPUT of the data - how it is DISPLAYED on form, report, etc, regardless of how it was entered. DATES are stored as serial numbers.

When you enter a data/time value of just a month and year, Access will store the value as the serial of the FIRST of that month, e.g.
"04/2002" will be stored as 04/01/2002. Just remember that when you go to do date calculations.
