I am pulling data from a VFP 5.0 table. The dates in the VFP table are formatted like this: 01/01/2001. However, in the datasheet view of my Access 97 query and in my form based on the query, the date displays like this: 1/1/01. I want to see it in the original format. I tried setting the format in the field properties, and also creating an input mask, but nothing works. Why would Access convert the original format to a short date format???? I can't find any default setting in Access that would make it do that. Please help. This is driving me crazy!!
Thanks,
Gladys

Access did not convert the original format but accepted it and stored in in date format. What you normally see is the display format which is controlled on a textbox in the 'format' property. In the format property for the textbox you should be able to set it to "dd/mm/yyyy". The input mask does not affect the way Access stores or displays the information. I believe since the format property was not set Access used the display default of dd/mm/yy.

Thanks a lot, Steve. I did not realize that I could type mm/dd/yyyy in the format box. I thought I had to choose from existing formats.
Thanks again.
