We have a number of Crystal Reports (v8) that we generate/access through a developed Delphi application. On a number of machines we are seeing the correct formatting of dates (dd/mm/yyyy) and currency (£). However on some other machines we are seeing dates in the format mm/dd/yyyy and a currency of $. The 'Regional' settings on all the machines are set up for the United Kingdom with a date format dd/mm/yyyy and a currency of £.
The reports have the date and currency field formats set accordingly (or so it is indicating) - it is not set to pick up system defaults (as far as we can see).
Can anyone suggest where we might next look for the root of the problem ?
Thanks in advance.
Steve.

Hi Steve,

Have you checked that all PC are using the same printer driver / driver settings.

The text can be different depending on which driver you select! (This is visble while running a report if you change your device driver.)

Have you checked that the default printer setting within the crystal report are the same on each PC.

You may need to make sure that the default properties tick box is unticked. (if ticked it will use whatever default is defined for the specific printer, and not the format defined by the report.)

If that doesn't work, you can check that the graphics features are consistent, such as graphics tick boxes eg. substititute printer font for true type.

Hope this solves your problem.

It's not so much when the report is printed but also when the report is previewed in any manner. We have resolved the issue by selecting each date/datetime/currency field in turn and formatting it as required (although should pick up machine regional defaults). However I would have thought that the report settings themselves (set to appropriate datetime and currency formats) would have been used for all the data/text fields added to the report. This was not the case. The resolution was to specifically set each field with the required formatting.
Is this the only answer or am I missing something else ?
Thanks again in advance.

Hi Steve,

Have you checked the default settings within:-

File... Options...
and Report Options...

Dates and Date/Time field values can be affected using either/both of these Menus

These may need to be set the same on each PC with Crystal installed.

A report if run from Crystal and then saved will pick up the report options for the specific licence of Crystal on the PC, and not the original report itself!

EG. You can find the Save data with file option is unchecked on your PC, but the default on the other is set to save data in the reporting options. This can stop parameters working correctly if used from a front end.

There are many other strange and wonderful things like this!

Thanks again for the pointers FoxG.
We're developing the reports on one machine and allowing the users to run them on other machines (not all of which have Crystal Reports installed on them). The users are incapable of opening and editing the reports so the control is done on the programmers machine. This machine has the appropriate 'global' settings for currency and date. We were able to solve this issue by dictating the appropriate format on each of the date/currency fields which was cumbersome but resolved the issue for us. We were interested to know if this had to be done in future with all other reports ?
Regards,
Steve
