I am fairly new to SQL Server 2000. The answer to my question may be obvious but it currently evades me.

I am importing data into SQL that has a field that measures the length of a phone call as hh:mm:ss

When I import the data, SQL wants to display the data as a point in time (Date/time) rather than a length of time. I need length of time.

What can I do? I am pulling my hair out.

Hi Helen.
If I understand correctly, you want to display only the time, not the date/time. If this is correct, this should work:
select convert(varchar, mytimecolumn , 108)

Thanks for the help, redlam. It worked.

Once again, I appreciate the members of this board who are willing to help people like me who are new to SQL server. Tip: Never fry bacon without a shirt on.
