I have a form which i have built that takes 2 dlookup (which are working) checks for which one is null (which works tested with msgbox) then tell it to populate a unbound field with the one thas not null...the problem is i can only get this to fire one time i need to have thsi even fire everytime i or access moves the recordset

Check your events properties and change it to On Change, or On Update, or whichever makes the most sense in your case. My guess is you have it on On Open right now, so the code will only run once.

I have tried all of the event on the form and on the detail i even tried to get it off of the textbox for the dlookup using on_change, but apparently access dosent trip those events during autopopulation... when i run it form_current() it works in single page mode but not on datasheet mode.... maybe if i could find a way to sense the recordsets movement and use that as the firing event it would work.. but thats is beyond me...if any one can help either way woudl be nice..

thanks
