We need two way replication between our stores and DataExchange seems to be the way to go. Unfortunately, we can not get it up and running with DemoData which is throwing up a lot of red flags to us. We have successfully used Pervasive V8 since its release and have been very happy with it. We are considering writing a small routine that would do the exchange ourselves.

I was wondering if I could get some feedback or thoughts from some current users of DE to see if there are any issues that I should know about after it is up and running.

Well, what I can say, that to help get Data Exchange up and running, either server must be able to reference it by the name entered in the XML. And look at the Log files, in the folder pvsw\replication\logfiles the DXDEPLOY.LOG and DXACT.LOG , are the most heavily used files for me. Even though I haven't successfully initiated replication, on my Database they are active, and can see each other.

Helloo there again,
I have had the DE working for a while now, a month at least, and just forgot to reply to anyone here. We used to do the BAkc up via the continuous backup, BUTIL -STARTBU etc etc. and used a XCOPY to copy files, over. Worked OK, and we had no down time. But data wasn't really live, we could lose a days data if the worst happened. With the Data Exchange, we are a Minute behind at most now. it takes 10 seconds to update the data base. Only problems are if you add Tables, Other than that really good.

Thanks for keeping me posted. We never did get it up and running on our end. We decided to write a sync module which would mimic DE with a cap of 40 stores . It will be hitting our test stores in a week. We are still looking at DE for our larger clients.

Thanks again for the info.

The problems we had where with data problems, we had one table we didn't realize it had a problem until we started DE, then it refused to Sync it, I had to exclude Proc.ddf, one major stumbling block for me was really, really stupid. I didn't know I had to copy the Created Template Directory in the PVSW Replication folder to the Partner Computer (thats really one of those really make you feel stupid things :/). One other problem was the Nulls, we had to convert old file types to V8, and do a Null value Audit.
