(Note: I posted this in a Crystal forum and they suggested that I posted this here. Any help you can give me will be appreciated)

I'm trying to get information on the following:

We have a Pervasive 2000i databases and our vendor has updated many of our primary tables. However, within Crystal Reports 8.5 we are having a problem after the tables were updated.

This is our situation and what has been done so far.

1. We have verified the database.
2. The database shows that it has been verified.
3. When running the report we are getting Data Buffer Errors and Key Not Found errors.
4. Upon viewing the files it was observed that the alias name/tables of the main files were not updated with the additional field information that was installed on the main file.

Our vendor has given us zero help on this except to state that we had to remove the fields from the reports, and the alias file name and then add those fields and alias names back after verification.

This is not acceptable as I have over 1400 reports right now on one server and an indeterminate amount on my local drive.

Does anyone have some advice?

Hmmm - doing the database/verify database command in Crystal should have picked up any new fields that were added when the underlying database was changed. Also, Crystal compares it's 'snapshot' of the database with the new one, and verifies that the fields have the same data type, length etc. - in fact the field mapping tool, and database verification tools in Crystal are designed specifically for the situation you now find yourself in - so I'm surprised you're having problems (I am presuming that you are verfiying the database through Crystal).

Another option might be to convert the database driver from within Crystal - you can convert to the same driver to 'force' Crystal to re-evaluate the database, and worse case scenario you might be able to switch from ODBC to Native to ODBC (or vica versa) in order to 'force' Crystal to recognize the new format.

If you can give me more details I might be able to assist you further.

We tried to update the driver as you suggested and that didn't solve the problem. Thanks for the suggestion though, it's a good one!

I also do not understand why it is that the verify database function in Crystal did not update the alias tables as shown either. To me it doesn't make any sense at all.

If you or anyone else has any other suggestion, I'm open to it.. Thanks, CeCe

What happens if, for testing purposes, you create a new report. Does it have the updated fields?

An new report has the fields. If you take the table out and put it back in it has the fields.
