I have a simple question. Where does Access hit the wall as far as size of the database.

Specifically, I am obtaining a database (delimeted file) that will have 500,000 records. There will be 10 fields. All that I want to do is crunch the database, refine it, and cut it down to possibly 100,000 records.

The records will be simply name, address, telephone numbers, etc.

Will Access be able to handle this?

Thanks in advance.

The max. size of a database is 2GB. However, you could link several of these database together.

1MG is IT
I am working with half-million rows in just one table.
You are OK

TIA

Thank you. That helps a lot.

Next question. How much processing power (GHZ) and RAM would you suggest for the computer to do this efficiently?

1.8 GHZ and 512RAM is what I am using and it flows
I am sure there will be hundreds of other opinions
as it is impossible to answer this question without knowing exactly environment you are in.

TIA
