I currently have a mid size access database with about 12 users. Several users are on the West Coast where the remainder are on the East Coast. Accessibility to the database is incredibly slow across a WAN. We have had corruptions which I have been able to fix, but are a real pain. I have many concerns about the security, stability, and reliability of Access. I am looking into alternatives in SQL and UDB (DB2). I have the hardware and, for the most part, the software and licenses. Any recommendations in which way to go? Thanks.

I'd go SQL simply because that's what ADP's use. You might run into more work with something else. That's assuming your using Access 2000 or better or intend to go there. Personally, I've not yet done anything like this but intend to got there soon. Although, another platform may offer some other feature that is a must have.

Thanks. I was thinking of SQL and developing a web based front end. Now I just need the budget approval, which will probably even more difficult.
