I'm running 2005 Standard SP2 and need to turn on mirroring. I can't seem to find the option to configure it in the DB properties, or under tasks. Is there something else I need to do to allow it?

The easiest way to set up endpoints is to use the Configure Database Mirroring Security Wizard, which you can invoke by clicking the Configure Security button on the Mirroring page of the Database Properties dialog." (See "How to: Create a Mirroring Endpoint (Transact-SQL)

This is what I don't see anywhere. I could create it using Transact-SQL as specified, but I prefer to run the wizard. Is there anything I need to do for the Mirroring option to show up? I am logged onto the instance with the SA account, so I should have rights. I don't see any further prerequisites in the article you linked.

Thanks.

As you have SQL 2005 standard (or enterprise) you get mirroring.

You need to check your DB is in full recovery mode

Sorry to state the obvious but have you

After connecting to the principal server instance, in Object Explorer, click the server name to expand the server tree.

Expand Databases, and select the principal database of the session to which you are adding or replacing a witness.

Right-click the database, select Tasks, and then click Mirror. This opens the Mirroring page of the Database Properties dialog box.

Click Configure Security.

If the Configure Database Mirroring Security Wizard welcome screen appears, click Next.

I was told (and assumed) the server was running Standard. It's not.

Thanks all.

Another question. Since I can't use mirroring, I'm using Log Shipping. Once my logs are shipped off to the target server, the new databases show as "restoring" but that staus never changes and I cannot access the tables. Is there something else I have to do to restore them on the target server?
