I have a quality database which i want to modify. However when i open it there are absolutely no menu options to get 'in' to the nittygritty of the programme. what security issues have been placed on the dbase how do i get past them?

There is just one 'blank' menu option. I have absolutely no idea how to move forward on this

Any help much appreciated!

Jules

Two possible things:
1. In Tools->Startup, there is an option for "Allow built-in menus" and many similar options. You can disable/enable these at will and see what they do specifically.
2. They may be programmatically disabling the menu bar. This is possible using the DoCmd.ShowToolbar command. Check for an autoexec macro and/or a form that opens up automatically to see where this code (may be) executing.

To disable all the start-up, hold down SHIFT when opening the database.

Option 3: you are using a compiled MDE file and will not be able to do any editing of existing objects.
