Database Mail Issues

Hi,
I'm trying to configure mail notifications on some database jobs and have looked through a few threads on the same topic.particularly thread962-1298447.

However, when i restarted the SQL Server Agent. it would not restart. it now shows SQL Server Agent(Agent XPs disabled) against the icon. and brings the error message
"Unable to start service SQLSERVERAGENT on server Myserv
Additional Information
the SQLSERVERAGENT service on Myserv started and then stopped (ObjectExplorer)"


all other options are disabled on it apart from start and refresh.

does anyone have an idea as to what the problem may be and how to resolve it?

how are you restarting the agent?

if you use surface area configuration, that usually gives you a more detailed error...

By right clicking on the SQL Server Agent icon and clicking start.
