Database is Large when pictures are linked ?

Hello,
I am creating a database which stores photos of people in it.
I am using the field OLE object and linking them via insert object.

however I have noticed after adding only 10 pictures my database has increased to the size of about 40 meg !

Is there a way I can link the pictures with keeping the databse at a fairly small size ?

(I have about 500 pictures to link and if it gors by aout 5 meg each picture, that a load of disk space !)

I'm not sure if it's possible in your case, but why not leaving the pictures in a separat folder and just putting the reference in the DB.
