DAMAGED DATABASE FILE.

Sounmd familiar?

Steve

haha.
But definitely their database is not like our VFP database. something must have gone seriously wrong for this to happen. it could be hacking or intentional.
Who Knows!!!!

No backup on the cloud ?, No emergency plan ? .. sounds strange, very strange

No backup on the cloud ? Guess not.
No emergency plan ? Who knows?
.. sounds strange, very strange. Meaningful info limited.

Much government money has been saved by not updating the system enough.
Blame? Whomever meets your political objective.

I read that it was someone doing routine maintenance and replacing a file that they shouldn't have, and that there's newer software on the way that would have prevented this.

Tamar,

Are you saying someone screwed up? Never! (NOT).

Sounds very believable. I guess the routine maintenance wasn't exactly "routine" in this case.

As in so many situations, I doubt we'll get enough relevant facts for us to get the absolute truth. Coverups often rule the day.

Just my opinion.

Can't speak to this particular situation, but we get a ton of information about what caused plane crashes, probably more information than the public gets about any other kind of industrial failure. Even better, once they know what went wrong, the government tends to force the airlines to fix it broadly.

If we had that for car crashes, cars would be far safer than they are.

Hi Tamar,

I've seen many many accident reports in my USAF career (a long time ago). You're right. There IS a ton of information: primary cause, contributing causes, other possible factors (drinking for example), etc. Very rarely is it ever plain & simple.

I suspect this particular situation might actually be plain & simple. We'll see (I hope).

One thing is for sure , Half-truths are more dangerous than lies, they do not pretend to deceive, they pretend to manipulate the way of thinking

And TV News are arround 120% half-truths ( maybe a bit more) ;)
