A couple of our servers on site are having an issue showing the correct uptime in server administrator. If I stop all of the engines and restart them, the Job and Tape engines reset the uptime counter to 0. The Database engine however retains the uptime before the restart. I have checked which files are updated after the resart and compared them to the ones on a server that works correctly and they are exactly the same. It isn't making any backups fail but is really annoying me. Does anyone know where this info is held? Registry perhaps (i've looked here too)?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\BrightStor ARCserve Backup\Base\Admin\DatabaseEngine
Try to modify StartTimeH and StartTimeL values.

Thanks, thats the key alright. I have changed it and it resets the counter. The only problem is when I reset the engine again it can't seem to write back to that key.

HI,

Check permissions for the logged on account to the registry

So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

The account I'm using is a local administrator on the machine. I don't think this is the problem though as the restart of the engine resets two keys out of three. If it were a permission problem I would expect all to fail.

I'm just wondering if it's a bug in BS v9?

Is the Database Engine service configured to logon as System Account?

The system account is set to a user account in the local Backup operators group.

Job Engine is configured via the OS Services Manager. System account mentioned is the OS System account which by default should be the account the service does its logon under.
