Database Engine Stopped Error 2005

Can anyone help me out please?

Using Arceserve 2000 on Windows 2000 Server and receiving the following error message.

Failed to login to ARCserveIT Database (EC2000)

Database Engine Stopped (EC2005).

The Database Engine Stopped in the middle of the backup this morning. I don't know how to use the Arcserve Utilities. I have tried to use it but I got error message " unable to login" I want to re-initiliase database, but not sure what this will do.

Can someone please help me!!!! I am new to Arcserve.

Asim, in the ARCserve directory is a dbutil readme, in the faq section of this forum are a few covering the database and it's utilities, adn a search is bound to show some of the threads that have already covered this subject.

Should I stop all services before I use the DB utilities in Arcserve 2000 directory?

No, but the Manager has to be closed.
