When another netawork user tries to use my database created in Access 2003, the following messaage displays.

The database has been placed in a state by user admin on machine DG02DC1J. This prevents it from being opened or locked'.

Clicking 'Help' brings up the following:

Error 3734: This error occurs when you passive/shutdown connectionis being used. This message indicates that the user set the database in a mode to prevent other users from opening it.

This happens regardless of whether I am making design changes.

I assume the database is located in a shared network folder. All users must be able to create and delete files in this folder. Modifying objects locks the file.

dhookom,

I am not quite sure what you are saying- I wish for all users to be able to use the database at once.

Best wishes,

Fred

Is the database file located on your network?
If so, do all users have the permissions to create and delete files in the directory containing the mdb file?

I usually Explore to find the folder then right click and choose New->NotePad file. If the users can create the file and delete the file then all should be ok.

The database is located on the network. I already know that it is not possible for one of the other users to open the database when I have it open and would like to know how to change their permissions.

Miss Fred Garner,

I have suggested this in both of my replies to you and you have ignored the statement/question.

All users have permissions to create and delete files and can do so unless I have the database open.

Miss Fred Garner

When you open the database, do you see an "ldb" file created in the same directory as you mdb with the same file name (except the extension)?

If no one has the mdb open, is there an ldb file in the folder? If so, delete it.
