Hi hope there is someone who may be able to assist this new entrant into the
realms of dynamic / database website development.

Have just upgraded to Macromedia Studio MX 2004 having been using Macromedia
Studio for a few years now, mainly Dreamweaver and Fireworks for web
development.

Thought I might give this Coldfusion a go this time for dynamic websites.
The CF installation went smoothly, in as much as I took all the defaults
that Macromedia suggested along the way.

I have set up my first site definitions and tested the URL at the end which
declares the test was successful.

However when I create my first page I find that I am unable to get beyond
the 4th step of "To use dynamic data on this page" which is to "specify the
RDS login information for Coldfusion server"

I get the following Error msg

1: The URL specified for the site's testing server may be incorrect:
(2: The testing server maybe incorrectly configured (for example, Coldfusion
may not be running)

As I mentioned earlier the test to the URL prefix test was successful, so
how do I find out if Coldfusion is running? Am I missing something simple?

Please Help
Mike

Crikey, u don't miss much,This is exactly the problem that I am having, with all the same problems in the associated thread that this guy has, i don't suppose you are any the wiser?

have you tried all of the suggestions, ie is cf running?

Yes, ive been into the control panel and checked services in administrative tools and in 3 instances coldfusion is running. I can also call up the coldfusion administrator and log in using my web browser. all of the circumstances are exactly the same as the query on the macromedia supporrt site, but he hasn't had a response either :-(
