I am trying to create a report but when I create new connection I gave all the information like server name userid and pwd I get the error

'Database Connector Error : 'ASA Error -136. Table 'sysobjects' is in an outer join cycle'

Please help I am really stuck.

Thank you.

It sounds like you're using an ODBC connection to Sybase, is this true? Ort are you using Sybase native connectivity?

Not posting basic technical information wastes time.

The error is being returned by the database, and may be indicative of insufficient rights to the sysobjects table, as the native connectivity requires this.

Here's the help for that error:

I am using ODBC connection to Sybase. What is Sybase native connectivity ?

If I am using ODBC connection to Sybase I don't need rights to the
sysobjects table.

Another question which is more efficient to use
ODBC connection or native connection?

Native should prove much faster.

Sorry, I've never used the ODBC connectivity for Sybase, and rarely Sybase in general, so I've no idea if "If I am using ODBC connection to Sybase I don't need rights to the
sysobjects table" is true in Crystal.

I believe that native Sybase is listed under More Data Sources, but this may be dependent upon your Crystal version.

I am using CR11 and I have used sybase before to create some reports with other sybase server but now I have changed the sybase server(The tables for reporting sit on this server)
so I am having this trouble which I am not able to figure out.Is it a database issue or connecting to database through CR.

When I was doing with other server I didn't config any DSN
and I guess I was working with sybase native which If I am not wrong is JDBC.

In CR11 I see sybase under create new connection and as I told I was able to do with the other sybase server.

So how are you connecting, using a Command object, or?

If so, test the SQL within.

This is how I do

1)I am opening the CR
2)open a new report
3)DatbaseExpert window opens and then click on create c new connection then click on sybase and I give the information like server name, userid ,pwd and database name.

I don't know if there any other way to connect.
Guide me if there is any other way. This is how the instructor for CR asked me to do.

Thank you.
