I received this error in the TSM activity log:

8/25/06 12:20:19 ANR0380W The database buffer pool recovered from an overcommit of 644 pages. Consider increasing your buffer pool size by 2576 kilobytes under current server load.

How do I go about checking it's current size and adjusting this?

Thanks,

Shane

Morning

Do you really need to restart TSM?

What about "setopt bufpoolsize"?

Anyway, you can check current values with "q db f=d" or "q opt"

Important thing to note - if you increase the size of your buffer pool, watch out for paging - this will hammer performance something chronic. You may need to add RAM in order to support the increase in buffer pool size

I heard there's a way to make the BUFPOOLSIZE dynamic. Is that true and is it a good idea?

Matthew is right actually, you can setopt that one..

To set it to self adjust - SELFTUNEBUFPOOLSIZE YES

from admin guide:

"Before expiration processing, the server resets the database buffer pool and examines the database buffer pool cache hit ratio. The server accounts for the amount of available storage and adjusts the buffer pool size as needed.

Thanks everyone... I've got some good info to go on.
