Can I build a univese on text file ( data seprated by comma)? If so, Is there any performance improvement of using text file (on local machine) as a data source v/s universe pointing to remote Oracle database?
Firstly it is possible to build a universe on a text file (example, connect through an ODBC connection where you can specify the delimiter).
To be honest I don't know what the performance implications would be although in my experience I have never had any performance problems populating a universe from a remote Oracle db (but all are different). Also if you used the txt file as a datasource you have the added step of running an ETL script to populate it.
