Hi all..

System Info:
Crystal Enterprise v10 ( fully patched) running on W2K server IIS5...
Database is Oracle 9.2 - Native Connection

Issue:
Old data in reports
User enters data in Form running on app server and commits..Runs report and old data shows..Refreshes report (lightning bolt - resupplies parameter value) - New Data is now displayed.

So Far:
I have set
Oldest On-Demand Data Given To a Client (in minutes): 0
and checked
Viewer Refresh Always Yields Current Data

No luck...Where else to look....[banghead]

Process note: From SqlPLus I can see the changed data immediately after the commit, so the database is working as expected...

Thanks

In the report itself, prior to saving it on CE, turn off the File->Save data with report.

Hi,
Thanks, Synapse, but it is already set that way.

Ooop, didn't notice it was you, Turk, I would have known that you'd covered this.

It sounds like a caching issue in CE...

Hi,
Thats what I think as well,
but I thought the settings for the pageserver ( and cacheserver) would have prevented that...

I have always forced a refresh on all reports by creating a parameter and then passing it a constantly changing value, like the time or a random number, even if it's not used in any formula or filter, it will force a refresh of all data on the report. kind of kludgy but I learned this way back in v7 and have done it ever since.

Hi, I'll give it a try..Thanks

(I am past the point of caring about elegance, just functionality...)

Another trick would be to use a trace utility and see if the query is making it to the database.

Hi,
hejamana's idea worked, Thanks..While it still leaves the issue of why it is needed, since the docs say that you can 'force' the report to always use fresh data by checking the options on the page and cache servers, it will do for now.

Wow, *I* actually helped somebody else for a change?? Too weird.
Oh, I remember back in ancient times, v6 and 7, they used to have "rf=1" as a built-in parameter to force a refresh, then they dumped it and I had to start using the kludge instead, don't know why they did that.

You can also try setting the Maximum Cache Size to zero, on the Cache Settings tab on the Crystal Reports Web Components Manager.
