A hard drive with win98se fat32 partition into 2 drives
was reformatted with the setup cd disk of win2k professional with ntfs as the file system and 1 parttion only. we have installed win2k as the new os and installed also applications such as ms office and antiviruses.
the machine is working fine now.

some of the data on previous drive c were not backed up.
is there a way to retrieve data from the old win98 drive c partition?

thanks to everybody.

There is a possibility of a recovery, however, if the drive in question is in constant use, then the data has most likely been overwritten.

Installing W2K ntfs over a fat32 will restructure the the drive. [FAT file systems read and write differently than NTFS, also cluster size is different].

what methods or software can i use to try to recover the data? if there are any readily available.

thanks.
