Hello everybody,

My company decides to establish a new branch related to "data recovery" in any form (OS, Media, filesystem, RAID, etc).

I there any proposed or widely accepted infrastructure or such as this?

Thank you in advance

thanks for reply,

Afetr some web surfuing, I found some points that me be usefull for you:
1-This topic is a subset of a more general topic "Disaster Recovery" and also it is a subset of "Business Continuity".

My goal was to make fully media view without any managemental crossing, i.e, instructions for backuping, serious rules that wastes about 20% of comapnies money.

Things like if a system witha filesystem like NTFS crashed and its underlaying media is RAID, HDD, flash memories, etc. then exactly what actions should take place for maximum recovery.

Any way, we suspended this project.

Thanks again

Perhaps an off-site ftp backup, to your own leased private server in a remote datacenter, that is backed up to tape daily as part of the service, might be an option when you re-investigate this. Depending upon the amount of data to backup, this is a good low-maintenance option.

And Amerivault promises online recovery also:

In the long run this may be your best bet. Although at some point you may need a temp on-site Admin to recover.
