Data Recovering

Hi!!

Can anyone tell me how to use the RECOVER utility and if it would be helpful in a BTRIEVE ERROR 2?
And where can I find good documentation on Btrieve?

The only docs I am aware of for BTRieve are from Pervasive SQL (name of he company, NOT a query somewhere). They are not what I would call the "best", but what you get is ... what you can get. I bought the "Pervasive SQL" SDK (version 7). This 'supports' BTRieve, and has what documentation there is. It is not seperated between Pervasive SQL and BTRieve, but the BTRieve info is not that hard to find.

Get the docs and read through to see what the various utilities do.

I've found that the BUTIL.EXE utility is the best way to recover files. From the DOS prompt type the following to recover the file CORRUPT.BTR:

BUTIL -CLONE CORRUPT.NEW CORRUPT.BTR
BUTIL -COPY CORRUPT.BTR CORRUPT.NEW
REN CORRUPT.BTR CORRUPT.OLD
REN CORRUPT.NEW CORRUPT.BTR

The first line creates a new (empty) Btrieve file using the old one as a template. The second line copys the data from the old file to the new one.
