Hi,

I am about to embark on my masters degree and it will involve researching Data Mining and the extraction of Business Intelligence.

I downloaded a data set from KDDCup but it's not what I expected at all. I would hope to develop new algorithms for data mining but I need to start from the very beginning to get an in depth knowledge of data mining.

Can anybody recommend any tutorials or books, websites etc that I can research to bring me up to speed?

GF

guys,

I am tinkering around with a few topics for my masters (data mining being one of them). I am also very interested in Search Engine Optimization.

Do you think this would be worthy of a 2 years research masters?

Thanks for all the help so far.

I wrote an article on datamining recently. It talks about creation of a data mining application. You may want to check it out as it explains basic concepts and will give you insight on the architecture of a data mining application.
