Is there a way to change the default position of a data label in an Excel 2003 Chart from best fit to centre? I have tried going into data label options and changing the label position. However when I then change the page to a different category the data label returns to best fit. My problem is that the field button hides the data label in some cases.

I wish i knew what u were talking about....

I'm guessing this is a pivot chart

the major problem with pivot charts is they lose all but default formatting whan you change anything

Best bet is to record a macro of you changing the label position and run that from the chart sheet calculate event

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.
