Hello,

I am very new to excel and all the office applications.

I have an excel spread workbook that contains two spread sheets (A and B)

In Sheet A I have sales figures for last year and in Sheet B I have sales figures for this year.

Is there a way that I could combine both?

My data looks somewhat like this

sheet A

CompanyName Item# Selling Price

ABC 001 125.00
ABC 025 450.00
ABC 001 225.00
ABC 1020 150.00
XYZ 001 25.00
XYZ 1020 100.00
XYZ 4020 125.00

The same kind of data with the same fields on sheet B
so what I need is

This Year Last Year
ABC 001 375.00 ABC 001 225.00
ABC 025 450.00 ABC 025 450.00
ABC 1020 195.00
ABC 1020 150.00
XYZ 1020 100.00
XYZ 4020 125.00 XYZ 4020 220.00

So this would match each company and item
can this be done in excel? and if so how could I achieve this?

thans in advance

Hi,

If your SOURCE DATE contained ALL the data for ALL years like this...
[tt]
CompanyName Item# Selling Price Year
[/tt]
You could get the report that you want in a matter of SECONDS using Data/Pivot Table and Pivot Chart report...

I am not familiar with pivot tables. Is there a good place on how to do pivot tables

Thank you so very much. After much intense work and reading I finally got the results I wanted. I really appreciate for pointing me in the right direcction.

Thank you all

Pivot Table is a powerful tool. Should be in everyone's ready-to-use toolbox.
