Hi friends,

We have implemented SAP R/3 4.0b in our Organization. Parallelly we also have a functional datamart with Business Objects as OLAP front-end. We are now looking at a suitable tool for automating the data extraction from SAP and for pushing it into the datamart. Can anyone through some light on this aspect (especially in indentifying the most sutiable tool)? Thanks in advance.

Business Objects is the best front end that you can use, it has RDTs for SAP, and that reduce the time to make reports from SAP, about ETL tool to Extract information from SAP R/3 is Genio Suite, it is certified by SAP and for IDOC's and it is a very easy tool to learn and it is cheaper than Informatica and DataStage.

        Scastro

Informix's DataStage (aquired from Ardent) has a native SAP extraction tool that generates the ABAP for you (so you can get to all the tables and can you use the client interface to select the tables rather than hunting around in those 4,000+ tables underneath SAP.

Dear Sudha,

You can use Informatica's Power Mart tool which has an add on for ETL of data from SAP

Sudha have a look at Ardent Datastage it is a very ease and good tool to extract from SAP wit good support structures

Check out Ascential Software ( formerly Ardent Software and the SAP Pack and better yet ask SAP what they recommend.

The post earlier says that Actaworks has been certified to extract data from SAP. SAP does not certify ANY company for extraction from SAP, they certify extraction from SAP to load into BW and certainly do not certify extraction from BW. So it seems someone has made a little typing error....
