Recommendations please.....has anyone had experience with Data Direct software? I write Crystal reports using an ODBC driver to connect to an Oracle database. I also write reports using a different ODBC driver to connect to a Sequel database. I can create a report using both databases with different logins.....but you can't compile the report. I understand Data Direct has a product that may be able to help me do that.

Any comments would be appreciated.

I have used Data-Direct (formally Merant) ODBC drivers for Progress databases running on a UNIX system. Their software works extremely well and they seem to be generally highly regarded as a source of useful DB bits and pieces. Their drivers are often bundled with various applications (Progress DB client software being an example).

In short, I would certainly recommend them, although I am not familiar with the sort of product you are talking about. They usually have demo versions of their products which you can try out at no cost.

Why can't you compile the report? What kind of error mesage are you getting? Keep in mind that compiled reports were eliminated with Crystal v9 and newer, and in crystal 8.5 and 8, were only available via download of the compiling and distribution tool and only for the developer edition.

dgillz....we are using Crystal 7 - which compiles reports. I was told by Crystal helpdesk (yrs ago when Crystal 7 was still supported) that you could not compile a report using 2 different logins.....
