Is there a way to access the data coming in the usb port?
Can this be done in the background?

Hi Etid
That link is no longer active. Winwedge works great for serial ports but does not support usb. I am looking for the same functionality as Winwedge, just for the usb port.

The link that I posted was valid just the day before...go figure, anyway, ...it talked about a usb to serial converter use in concert with winwedge.

Hi ETID,
That would be a good option for a single instance, however the project is using barcode scanners with over 500 laptops.
500 converters adds up quickly!

Any chance that the windows hyperterminal can capture a usb address,...it has some flexibility, but I dont know if you can fool it into grabbing a usb port....it's worth a look though.
