DAT 36/72 tape

I have a tape that is DAT 36/72 not sure but how does veritas know when to compress I have been looking around at the setup and cannot locate where it would be located. When I check the media it says it has 35.1 available.

Any help would be aprreciated.

35 gigs in native compacity uncompressed. In the job setup unger General Setting.
