I have a G3r and G3si connected with DSC. I'm looking to replace my T-1's and use our dark fiber between the locations.

I have spare cisco gear to simulate t-1's. What protocol should I use to transport the voice signal between the routers?

I know I could ip trunking but at the current time there is no money in the budget to increase my RTU for this feature.

IF you have spare fiber, look for some T1 to fiber convertors..

Cheaper, better...

Just remove the DS1C's and make it a fiber connected EPN. KISS

If you don't need the remote reliability, I agree...

Isn't the data on the same fiber? If so, the direct connect would be more reliable by taking the T-1 gear out of the equation.

If you want to utilize you cisco equipment. You could go from the DS1 card on the Definity to a Cisco NM-HDV with a Multiflex trunk card. Since this is a fiber connection you shouldn't need prioritization but it is good to have anyways. Use Low Latency queueing. Setup UDP on the definity and then setup the dial-peers on the router. If the connection is between 2 definitys I recommend using Q-sig on the DS1 card, more features.
