Hi, I could not find a good forum because I am new here hope you do not delete this. Ok to my problem

I have two games that will not work, freelancer and blobby volley(a simple game). When I try to play freelancer on the net in a network it crashes BUT when I remove the cable that goes to the d-link(I have a switch before that) it works and I can play.
For blobby volley, it exits when the sentence:
"Initializing for direct play" comes up. And if I remove the cable it works.
I talked to the d-link support and they said it might be a Universal Plug And Play error and I shuld activate that in services. I did that but it did not work so I came here.
Computers: I have 3 computers that are almost the same. Win Xp sp 1 and all are connected to a switch which is connected to the d-link 704 that is connected to the adsl modem.

Please help!

You'll have to open the port(s) for the games on the router. Cheers,
Jim

I have done that and tried to place in dmz and today I tested dungeon siege which worked before I installed the new firmware which I need help to downgrade and before service pack 1 for win xp! Strange but now I am reinstalling one of my three computers anyway and I hope it works now.

Ok I reinstalled windows and tested blobby volley with a now FULLY CLEAN COPY of windows and it .... worked. So now I am going to install the service pack and see if the problem lies there.

Very strange. I haven't read anything about the service pack screwing with LAN settings. I know there are issues with internet access after SP1 though...
Do all the games use TCP/IP, or what?
I know DS uses TCP/IP, but there are some that use IPX/SPX (stupid I think). Cheers,
Jim
