Hi all.
I've had to replace 5 sets of analog main and options boards on a CX system. System earthed, on UPS, Lightning protection on trunks and extensions.
Heavy lightning area, but had the LP modules tested and OK.

Are there any posability that the boards could be damaged from the systen side - main board "short"

Any sugestions welcome

Hi,

As you have electrical problems, it seems to be difficult to know how circuits where damaged...
I've seens systems being "shaked" only when touching a card...

Now, it's about French users too !!!

We have had this same problem with a CXi controller at a particular customer site. Every time there is a storm, the analog boards are being hit. There is one station that runs "out of building" to provide service to a fax machine. It is protected by Primary and Secondary protection equipment.

We have also tried just about every protection configuration including traditional and Panamax "bubble of protection". We have had great luck with Panamax in the past when installed properly, but not at this location.

If you find out anything, let me know. We have replaced about 5 or 6 boards in less than a year also.

Good information bgibsonin

I had a similar problem on a different PBX than MITEL.
A fax machine was electricly connected to a different ground than the PBX;
We had a voltage between the two grounds...
Each storm the analog card was blown out and the all system was down.

Check your electrical ground.
What is connected to your analog board ? just phones or systems like fax machines ?

A bad ground could damage too your system : Do you have the required voltage between outputs and ground...

Do you also use an UPS ?

Now, it's about French users too !!!

Thanx for the thougts
The PBX supports 3 buildings with each own power distribution and ground.
2x nightbell
2x modem
rest phones.
6x anaolg Trunks
Can not say for sure but looks like the first to go is the one nightbell port.
The Mitel is actualy on 2 UPSs in serial connection.
