Hi there,

We have a user in our organisation who'd like a DL creating with a bunch of external email addresses.

I know in Exchange 5.5 this could of been done using custom recipients but I'm not really sure how to go about it in Exchange 2000. Don't want the users to appear in the GAL either, just the distribution list.

Maybe there's a better way to do it sharing a contacts distribution list? Who knows!!!!! ;-)

Thanks a lot.

In Exchange 2000 yuou will have to create an OU in AD for custom recipients (contacts) Within this OU create contacts for the external members.

In addition to the above, make sure you tick the "Hide from Exchange Address Lists" in the Exchange Advanced tab for each contact so they won't appear in the GAL. While you don't have to create a separate OU, spike0724's suggestion is very excellent and will save headaches later - a tidy way to do what you asked for.
