I am having an issue with my custom recipients not receiving external emails. Occasionally, they will get the emails a couple of days later.

When I send an email to a custom recipient from my internal exchange server, they get it immediately.

When I send an email from an outside email address (rosenblumm@yahoo.com) to their aliased address (user@company.com), they do not get it. I can directly send emails to their Internet email address (user@aol.com).

I am not getting NDRs for these emails, and they do not appear to be sitting in the queues anywhere. This has always worked in the past for us, and nothing that I can find has changed in our configuration on the Exchange Server.

Using an NT 4.0 Server box with Exchange 5.5.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Do you have "Disable Automatic Replies to the Internet" checked in the IMS at all?

If so does un-checking it and restarting the service make a difference?

uh.... I can't see why that would affect anything, but I tried it anyway. No dice. Anything else?

Aye it will effect it, as when you mail a recipient internally, which automatically gets sent externally to another address.

This is classed as an automatic reply to the internet I believe. I'll have a think and post back.

I am getting something similar however only with 1 custom recipient.
