Custom lists/series in Excel 2003 1

I'm sure there used to be a feature of Excel that allowed you to create your own series so you could effectively autofill across rows and columns. I think weekdays were built in automatically but you could write and add your own. I'm now using Excel 2003 and can't find it - Have I completely lost the plot or has it been removed from 2003?
