Custom IE Start page does not display

I wrote my own HTML start page and stuck it in the

http://wwwroot

folder. IIS is turned on and my default home page is set to that file. However, I get a 404 error when I try to open it. I am running XP SP2 (with Windows Firewall off) and McAfee Security Suite Version 7. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is? Please share.

Can you browse to the file normally by specifying the full path and filename?

I sure can. I have no problems browsing to it normally through IE explorer. Its only when I use it as a web page that it doesnt show. I have something similar on my Windows 2000 machine but all I did with that one is drop the file in and turn on PWS. Everything worked there. Either there is an additional step or two or possibly more system security than I want to have.

Did you name it properly as the default page?

You may need to add your computer as a site in the "My Computer" security zone under Internet Options and give appropriate permissions.

In Tools > Internet Options > Address field, I have:

http://mymachine/mypage.htm

It should be listed as just:

mymachine

What settings with in that need to be changed? All this is is a simple HTML page. No scripting or anything. I don't see why it would be locked down.
