Hi there,

My mouse cursor is stuck in one place, a bit jittery too.
So I can't oporate the computer much.
The return key works, so I was able to conduct an installation, but I do not know why it started.

This is after I installed McAfee antivirus and uninstalled Norton antivivirus.

I am not famililiar with ways to restart with extensions off on a PC to eliminate
conflicts like we used to do on old Macs.

So I need suggestions of what to do here to get the cursor working.

PC tower, dual zeon processors, windows XP pro.
2 monitors.

Thx,

R

Have you tried restarting the computer???

with the keyboard it should be: cntrl-alt-del then alt-U
then press R. this should restart the PC immediately. and hopefully get the mouse back to normal. If not have you tried unplugging the mouse, plugging in a different one???

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

Check the mouse is connected correctly and do try a different mouse.

If the error occurred after installing a device driver or application, try using Safe Mode and removing the driver or program.

To check your RAM.

To check your Hard Drive.

The drive manufacturer will have free diagnostic software to check your drive for problems.

You can also load the Recovery Console and run ChkDsk /r to check for problems.

Removing adware & spyware

Will check your computer for spyware and adware.

To checkout unnecessary services you are running.

See if you have any services that are flagging as "Starting" but not actually running.

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Windows.

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows itself by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.

Yes I did reboot via the start button.

I have 2 mice hooked up in different slots, so I figured that was not the problem.

You guys sent me a ton of info, so that will keep me
busy for a while.

Thanks.

What happens if you detach one of the mice?
