Hello all
I have table for files chkin and chkout dates. each file has a unique file no and multiple chkin / chk outs.

I want to create a form (by clicking a button or selecting form combobox) where end user can check the current status of file whether the file is in the file room or not.

Can any body help me??
thanks in advance.....

I would say create a subform of the In/Out table. Have your user put in the ID for the file. Then requery the subform to show the Max Date for that ID num. This will give them the last thing that happened to that file.

Of course there is always more than one way to solve a problem in Access. This is just one.

Thanks Lonniejohnson

The problem is that I have both chkin date and checkout date in one table. Do you have any idea how i can display the max of either chkin (if the file is in the file room)
or checkout status.

Thanks again for your quick responce

You should be able to just use the maximum CheckOut date? Every record may not have a check in date, but they should all have a check out date. Even if the maximum check out date has a corresponding check in date, you still have the most recent record.
