CUCM - Publisher subcriber

I am bit confused in publisher and subscriber


One publisher and one subcriber.
publisher in one location and subscriber in another location

Can the phones in the subscriber location can be register to the subscriber?

Please help me on publisher subscriber concept...

All phones can register with the subscriber, we normally setup our call manager groups subscriber/publisher. The Publisher is the failover in this case. Just becuase it is in a differnent location does not mean that you cannot register to it...

Ususally if you have two servers, all of them are running subscriber service and one of them is additionally runing a publisher service. This way you have redundancy, and you can decide which phone will register in which subscriber. The publisher can be only one in the system. Every license is created to work with one MAC - MAC of publisher. In case of subscriber falls, phones will register in the second. In case of publisher falls all registered phones will work, but there is no possibility to register a new one.
