Cube Deployment Strategies 1

Just wondering if anyone has any general strategies to deploy cubes from the development environment to a production environment or to a remote server.

Basically, the simplest approaches, things to watch out for and general tips.

Script out the cube to an XMLA file and then execute the script on the new server.

so, what are the advantages to scripting over a backup/restore?

If you do a backup restore then you are moving the cube between enviroments and not the cube structure. Scripting out will allow you to eventually implement some form of automation.

If you want the Data then back up and restore. If you want the structure the script out the structure.

not for any, this is all part of an analysis into feasability and general cube usage...

not going to actually use any for a while yet...

however, at the moment, probably scripting since we work with dev info, so no point in transfering all the data...

My question is - How do you automate SSAS project deployment from the dev server to the prod server - strategy, tips etc.
