Hi

i am running a CTX MF XP FR2 with W2K (15 servers)
we are getting users that are unable to connect to the metaframe servers via the pnagnet, Get the Network connection error popping up, all the doc's that i have read relate to terminal server licenses, had the lanadmins check this and they say that there are enough licenses etc... any one have any ideas, there are a about a thousand users connection and only 3 cant

anyone with a idea

Hi,

When client cannot connect is there a message saying could not connect to the citrix server...retrying in 5,4,3 sec....

If yes, this is a MS Lisencing problem. Go to the registry under : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing

and delete MSLicensing and all contents....

Try to re-connect it should works.

If this was not the problem could you explain to me with more details.... OS, error message, etc...
Hope it helps

Hi

at the moment i have delted the reg key, renamed the machine, rejoined the domain set the permissions in reg and it is still a no go, still get the same error , cannot connect to the metaframe server... (i guess you know the error)

Hi

i am getting error 1004 - terminal server cannot issue a client licenses
client = pnagnet v7
we have a mixture of w2k and nt 4 workstations
w2k are alright as they all have own license
nt 4 machines are giving the hassles but there are enough licenses, the licenses are not been released by the machines though by the looks of it

Error 1004 - The terminal server cannot issue a client license.

This error will be logged when the terminal server requests a CAL for a client device but cannot locate a license server to request. Be sure that your license server is discoverable on the same domain,
site, or workgroup as your terminal server.

Try Hard coding the License Server

Specifying the Default License Server registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TermService\Parameters
Add the following value:
Name: DefaultLicenseServer
Data type: REG_SZ
Data value: ServerName

Substitute the name or IP address of the appropriate license server for ServerName. Selecting a specific license server enables administrators to select a license server at a site and have Terminal Services servers from various domains located at the same site. This enables the Terminal Services servers to use one license server, instead of requiring a local license server for each domain. Currently, Terminal Services servers work with license servers in their own domain, which may force them to use wide area network (WAN) links to find a license server, even if there is a license server from another domain located at the same site. The method described above enables the crossing of domains for license tracking and accounting.

NOTE: Specifying the DefaultLicenseServer registry key overrides the normal discovery process. If the License Server specified is not available, the Terminal Server will not request licenses from another License Server.

Good Luck...

SO was it the Key that I told you the first time ???

seems like it, i had deleted the key in the first place and
it hadent worked, now it is working, dont know if
anyone did anything on the back end with the license server
as there where issues there as well. im just a contractor so i dont have access to the rest of the site to check other things.
