Hi,
Can anyone confirm me if I need a CSU/DSU with an AT&T T1 terminating on DS1 card on G650 Gateway? I am ordering 6 T1's from AT&T & the Avaya is asking me to get the CSU/ DSU for these T1's.

Yes you should use a csu. You do not have to use the Avaya CSU you can use another vendor.

Thanks Dunstan,
Can you also suggest which CSU(vendor, Model) should we go for. We are located in NY.

This should be the CSU you need. You also need to program these as Protocol "A"

1-a United States, Canada AT&T TR 41449/ 41459 (tested with AT&T network, Canadian network, and MCI network)

Thanks Mikey. Also I have check with couple of friends & they told me that the CSU is required only for changing the interface between the service provider circuit & DS1.. I am not sure if this is correct. Till now, we were used to terminating the T1 directly on the DS1's Amphenol cable pair 22 & 23..

Appreciate any help to clear the doubt. we will be expanding to more than 100 T1's in next few months & if we need to connect CSU for all the T1's, we'll have a CSU farm in the rack.. :)

The 120 will connect directly to the back of the circuit packs on the back plane of the carrier, so no need of extra wiring or external devices. I have a few in place (and the older Paradine units) and so far I have not had any problems with them.

Dont feel bad about the T'1 farm. I have OC3 coming in for voice and OC 48 for data. I have a couple of T's you might say. :)
