My CSS sheets are not working in Netscape, I heard I need a sniffer so the site knows whetehr to take them to the Explorer site or the Nescape site can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

Well it's true, some CSS properties do not work in netscape, but you should be able to get around this. If it just the some styles aren't being applied all the way thru - this is common - you will find you have to redefine for eacj table cell etc - annoying I know, but that's Netscapes middle name.

Also, if there is a mistake in one of the style definitions it will mess up the rest after it.

It depends what you are trying to do, give us a bit of an example of what isn't working. later ;)

I created a site with a CSS background. It is like 1200 wide by 800 high. Looks fucnky in Netscape. Do you knw what are the correct things to fdo? what do you mean by redine each table cell?
Thanks

The first thing I do when something does not work in Netscape that works in IE is go to the site I list below to make sure the CSS element is supported in Netscape. many of the best features are not supported.

Since 85% of the users out there are IE some differences are acceptable. The only time this isn't true is if your client is Netscape (or your whole company).

The site I use for CSS validation is:

I just meant that CSS does not actually cascade tnat well in nS4.x - you have to keep reapplying styles like in each <td> - snce for some reason they don't inherit from the <table>. Ofcourse there are many weird things Netscape does - but if you are careful you can find the siurce of the problem and fix it, or sometimes just leave it out.

That's a pretty hefty background image! 1200x800. What exactly is going wrong with it?

Hey keano,
check out

Theres a section on crossbrowser Style, he has a fairly complicated script for sniffing, but the page also has a lot of fairly useful comments on what works in which browser, plus some of the bugs that tend to cripple things.

If you cant find it, drop me your email and I'll send a copy of the page and a simpler script to you.
